The Desert Arboretum Park is free. Wow!

We enjoyed the cacti and flowers as well.

There was a mountain nearby.

We walked and enjoyed the floweres and cacti.

Worthwhile to see!

The Desert Arboretum Park contains many specimens of cactus, aloe, and plants that live in the desert. Some of the Aloe were blooming when we visited in Feb. It was a beautiful day to wander around and look at the plantings and appreciate the plants of the desert.

One of the best arboretums I have been to. Really nice and lots of very interesting plant species that you just don't see anywhere else. It is worth the cost of admission.

My first time to go inside the arboretum was today, even though I walked past this place many times already. This arboretum is quite small. Because of its elevated location, it offers good views of ASU Lot 59 too.

Arboretum is the singular form of arboreta.

ASU's arboretum, tucked behind the Wells Fargo Arena, is a lovely respite from the bustle of the campus of the largest university in the country. But the arboretum is also very small. One can walk across it in about a minute or two.

In short, the arboretum is a great place to spend some time before catching a daytime event at the nearby basketball and football venues. And, if it's open — its hours can be spotty, particularly since it's often closed for private events — it can be a good place for students to study or relax. But it's not a destination in and of itself.

The Arboretum at Arizona State University is truly a "natural" wonder! It was created decades ago by my friend and fellow ASU staff member, Don Dickerman. Don worked in Facilities for years and was responsible for all of the grounds of the campus. Don came up with the fabulous idea of labeling all of the trees, shrubs, flowers, etc. throughout the campus. I walked the campus myself for 30+ years and learned so much by reading those labels!

This is a small park with a few signs. There is a stage / theater for outdoor shows but for the most part is not the place to plan an afternoon outing - it's a 15 minute stop at best.

It's a great place to see native plants any time of year. Even in January the aloe was in blooming. We strolled around for two hours and saw many different birds.

A nice place to sit and rest but that's about it. Plus it's gated off most of the time... I was hoping for more of this, at least there was shade
