Good place for learning to surf but hard to get to and always clouded.
People come here when the surf is small elsewhere so it's always packed with people or big and quiet full on.
Lots of places to hire boards and wurangs for food.
The road in is dirt and confusion if you or your driver has not been before, also have to pay 5000 to use the dirt road.
Suggest you organise you transport to wait for you.

Serangan Beach was a good option during wet season while Canggu and Balian on the west coast, with strong on shore winds, became messy. When the waves on the other surf spots close bye get to small Serangan is the place to try your luck, unfortunately many many other people will do the same... The white waters on a high tide are quite fun and the reef is covered with soft sea weed (or something). Therefore its also a great spot for learning how to surf. Its possible to rent surfboards in a warung right at the beach. Ask for Sabo, he is a very friendly dude with a wide range of boards. His wife Wayan cooks simple but yummy after surf food.
We found an accommodation, 10 minutes scooter ride from the beach;
Paras Paros Marina Lodge
Jl. Tukad Punggawa 123
Serangan Denpasar
www.parasparos.com
Friendly staff, swimming pool, clean, 250 k per night in a double room and with a very strict non smoking policy.
For breakfast go to Yan Pima's Warung only 50 meters from Marinas Lodge;
fruite salad (ask to have it without mayonnaise maybe…) and omelets were very good.
Serangan definitely has its own charm; quite rustic, not super touristic yet and a bit smelly :)

I went here with my wife.
We booked a day of water sports with Bali Artha Adventures. We were picked up on time and were taken to Serangan sports on Serangan beach instead of Nusa Dua beach as their brochure claimed.
Upon complaining we were lied to by one of the Serangan sports staff that the ocean walk we had booked only happens here.
The beach was not clean and had rocky with lots of stones. Walking on the beach was next to impossible and quite painful. What's worse when a few people when walking were grimacing in pain, the staff was laughing.
The activities were good. The ocean walk was great but like many things in Bali do not always trust what you see on a brochure.
We had another tour day booked with the same company the next day which we promptly canceled.

The ex-president's son has bought the land and is working on a 'project' there. There is no access to the beach for anyone including surfers, with everything fenced off. Locals say there has been no time line to the whole project. There are also no warungs along the beach as access to there is also closed off.

Unlike other nearby beaches, this one is perfect for swimming as wave is considerably more friendly for swimmers.

The only thing I would rate the horse riding at this place is swimming with the horses in the sea, it is quite refreshing being able to sit on the horses with my kids and the instructors would tag the horses into the sea with you. The rest of the trip is normal as there are not many scenic view when you tour the Serangan area. The manager of the stable and instructors are friendly and he will take many photos of you while on the trip. We paid 100,000. Rupiah for the CD which he will download from the camera. If you want better scenic view, I would recommend others but swimming with the horses is one experience we wanted, so we chose this company.

book tour with local agent for full day ubud for 8 hours (finally done more than and no extra) after 10minutes driving we were stuck in traffic and could hardly move at all, our driver suggested us to serangan beach who knows we want to play some water activities, which before we did't want (it's in the program that we book) because we didn't want to miss the waterfalls in Ubud. and finally we do some water activities with fun and forgot the traffic

Well Serangan Beach is easy to access from Denpasar, the road to Serangan area is usually used for running, learn to drive a car, small gathering for local, I feel not comfortable go to this area. To enter Serangan Veach, you need to pay Rp.2.000 (if you ride motorcycle). Then just follow the dusty road, if you confuse because there are several intersection without road direction, just follow other vehicle, mostly they'll go to beach.
Sometimes the beach can be used for surfing, if you plan to surf there, check the tide before you surf, at least you not feel disappoint with the crowded beach. Many local warung (small resto), try the young coconut, fresh and cheap.

Hello, catching a fast boat from Serangan in Bali next week and I am looking for accommodation close to the boats. Can anyone recommend a hotel under $100 per night nearby? - Thanks Rick
