About
The Walmart Museum is as much a part of Walmart’s history as the exhibits and artifacts that it houses. First opened in 1990, the museum was known as the Walmart Visitor Center. But as times changed and the term "Visitor Center" came to refer more to regional, state, and local tourism offices, it became apparent that a name change was needed. And so, today, The Walmart Museum carries on the mission it always has: to honor Walmart’s legacy, demonstrate its core values, and cast a vision of Walmart tomorrow.

Free, informative museum
Jul. 2021 • Family
For being a free museum it was a good way to spend an hour or so. The most interesting part was they recreated Sam Walton's office exactly as it was when he died (and they had his truck). Other than that, it was mostly a lot of reading. They didn't have the soda fountain open so we couldn't sample anything there. Give it a shot if you're in town.

Nice FREE museum about the history of Walmart and Sam Walton
Jun. 2021 • Friends
Nice little museum where Sam Walton’s store used to be. You can learn about the world’s largest company with about half a trillion dollars in annual sales as of 2021, and their visionary founder. There’s a quick intro video with Walmart’s current CEO, Doug McMillon, in the beginning of the tour, and you can see the whole thing in about 30 minutes or less.

Inexpensive ice and toys! Double win. We purchased games we remembered from our childhood for our grandchildren. Our visit was 2019

Worth an hour of your time

Definitely worth a visit if possible. The exhibit is good and tells the history of Walmart and more importantly Sam Walton. Likely one hour is plenty of time for the visit. It is part of a quite lovely downtown square so very easy to reach and enjoy.

A great museum to learn about the history of Walmart. A must do if you are visiting. Plan on 30 minutes. A cute soda fountain is the last stop on your visit. Exhibits are well done but not overdone. A great story.

Don't miss this museum

Excellent museum starting with the wedding of Sam and Helen (including her wedding dress) and ending now. Even kids like this as there are some interactive things to do. If you aren’t interested in Walmart it was a great tour You do have to make a booking but we just walked up and asked if we go do the tour and they accommodated. Don’t miss this. Highly recommend.

Worth a visit

Captures the Walton family and the ingenuity that built Walmart. Walk through on your own and be sure to finish with dessert at end in ice cream shop. The prices are 1980s.

The museum is very well done. It provides the information in a comfortable manner. The staff does a great job managing social distancing. This is definitely a place everyone should see when they’re in town

Sam Walton put Bentonville on the map
May 2021
Great venue to share the story of Sam and Helen Walton and their part in the Walmart success story - only in America. Make a time reservation online and plan for an hour to be impressed by this family's contribution to the American way. Marie greeted us at the entrance and her inside knowledge of the history was an added bonus. I personally have never been a Walmart shopper, but after this will change my mind and become a follower.

More fun than I expected

I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. It's really part of history and they Walton story is pretty cool. It's worth the visit and the surrounding area is fun too. Shopping, food, and a nice little park just steps away.
