We took the kids here when the came to visit. The lake was high and all the gates on the dam were open. It was quite a site to see. The James A. Gaston Visitor Center offers some souvenirs and more great views. If you are traveling to the Mountain Home area this is a must see.

The view from the visitor center is wonderful, and is nearly as beautiful as it was many decades ago. It gives a feel for the area as it was before the population exploded. Boating, fishing, swimming and camping are all good ways to experience the Ozarks.

Interesting dam, with a very informative visitor center. Must go to the very top for the breathtaking view of the dam. Walking trail's around the area for bird watching.

The dam is a worthwhile site. It opens Bull Shoals lake into the White River. The dam releases water to control flooding. What an experience to hear the horn blow. The gates begin to open and to hear the rush of the water going through each gate. The visitor's center provides the history. The facility is a beautiful structure. It... More

We took our granddaughters to the dam. I wanted to show them highlights of places I would visit when I grew up in the area. I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it. I certainly did! Brought back a lot of memories.
