The flood column isn’t really much to behold on it’s own, but the area is very picturesque and definitely worth the short walk from the main street of Ribe

Walking through Ribe, took a detour alongside the river to visit the Flood Column. Interesting historical record. Great spot by the river to sit and watch the world go by....... An afternoon of peace and quiet.

Careful it is really easy to miss. The pole itself has importance to but the you can take great pictures by the water bank and chill out with a cup of coffee or waffle you buy nearby.

Walking around medieval Ribe don't miss this site along Ribe Å showing one of the highest tides ever. And try to imagine what that meant for people living there at that time

I passed the pole on my way to Riberhus Slotsbanke. It shows the height of floods in the past. It's rather interesting to see the marks and to try and imagine how high the water came. I recommend to continue from here to the Slotsbanke...More

It's a nice pole but still just a pole. This pole is near the river so you might end up walking by it, take a second or two to enjoy the pole and move on.

This interestingly detailed piling shows the heights of floods in historic Ribe waterfront from 1634 to 1911. You should not miss this when visiting Ribe's fascinating waterfront/harbor area.
