We took the regular bus from Helsinki which takes about an hour and drops you at the uninspiring Porvoo bus station. Some parts of this small town are modern concrete and very bland and its only when you cross the main road and go into...More

Our experience of Porvoo Old Town was different- in a positive way- from some of the reviews I have just read. We visited on a weekday in September and arrived fairly early (before 10am, which is when most of the shops open). As a result...More

We visited Porvoo as an excursion from our cruise ship in Helsinki, and while some of the buildings are very old and the old town can be quaint - it is mostly just a bunch of tourist shops and cafes. While somewhat interesting it is...More

We went on the Omnibus express and the journey is about an hour. Booking in advance is the cheapest option - only €5. Buying on the day is a lot more expensive. The Old Town is very quaint with colourful wooden houses and shops. Wear...More

Porvoo is little more that a tourist attraction these days with some nice cobble stoned streets to walk, shops to browse and cafes to sample and is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

Very disappointed. The old part (very very small) is quaint but if visiting on a Sunday when the church is busy with a service, besides the touristy chocolate shops, there is not much to the place. The saving grace is that at the end of...More

Old town Porvoo was adorable......the stores, church, chocolate shop, cobblestone streets, waterway, etc. Then...to my surprise at the end of the street is a modern town(Provoo) of 45,000 people !!! No.o.o.o. can't be!!! I just wanted it to be this quaint old town that people...More

Situated by beautiful riverside, Porvoo old town offers uniquely beautiful historical town surroundings. Wooden red boat huts are so beautiful! The church is worth visiting. Market place and little shops offer plenty of handicrafts and Finnish design to buy, and the narrow streets and picturesque...More
