You can’t see the falls from the parking lot but as you get closer down the one mile trail you will hear and start to feel them. The path is a bit steep and uneven but worth it. Stand and feel the powerful force of...More

There's al lot of waterfalls in Iceland. This is one of the most impressive I've seen there. Also the valley/canyon after the waterfall is very beautiful.

This waterfall is a must do if you are in the Lake Myvatn area. We stopped when it was raining and still had a wonderful time. The hike was very easy aside from the rock stairs as you get up to the falls. We saw...More

This one was a little bit out of the way. You also have to make the choice of drive, which side you would like to view the falls from and if your car can handle the rough road on one side. We opted for the...More

This is a 20 minute walk both ways over wet volcanic sand. The falls are amazing and worth the walk. Spray rising from the falls can be seen as you approach. On the approach path you will also see Selfoss, where a fault across the...More

Mighty and surrounded by wonderful cliffs. Don’t miss the other waterfall, Sellfoss, which is only a short walk away.

I was skeptical of the claim of "most powerful waterfall in Europe" until I stood next to it. You can hear the toast from the parking lot and see the spray, but there is a bit of a hike to get there. We went to...More

Unfortunately it started raining just as we got to the parking lot but even in the rain, this is a stop worth making. It is a long walk from the parking area to the waterfalls. There are several viewing areas for the falls, all worth...More

Yes, the road to Dettifoss seems to be a bit off of the Ring Road. But this is why you came to Iceland-to see incredible things! Dettifoss itself took my breath away because it is so powerful. There are so many walking paths and viewing...More

Even on a very foggy day we went out to see Europes largest waterfall. It is powerful and a sight for sure. There is no disabled access but parking is plentiful and there are many WCs available. But... do not miss Selfoss....smaller and more beautiful...More

Easy walk! Tho not wheelchair accessible. You will walk down some steps. Then walk across rocks for maybe 10 minutes.

I’m sorry I just saw this. I hope it’s not too late. I went there in October - no snow. It was wet, cold, windy and grey (as Iceland can be very often) but the falls were still very impressive.
