Incredible experience with the real power of water! Amazing experience for the hearth and mind... In July is full of visitors but well organized and it's possible to take pictures with unbelieveble views. If you go to Iceland this is a mandatory place to visit!...More

How has no one died here? Or have they? Imagine if you could casually walk right into Niagara Falls. Great, though, really!

You can't help but be hugely taken aback by the sheer force of this waterfall. Keep younger children close as there are no barriers on the west side! The walk onwards to the next falls is well worth it from this side.

Reasonable falls (much smaller than many in Iceland). Worth a look but don't take a detour to do it as there are better falls around.

Strange place to find a waterfall, and yet, it fits perfectly. In these incredible surroundings, it becomes even more impressive. Don't forget to see its sister, Selfoss.

It was a long hike to reach the waterfall from the parking lot, not ideal when time is limited. I took longer than expected here and I barely made it to Husavik on time for the whale watching tour. The waterfall is impressive but not...More

This huge powerful waterfall is a must see. We choose the West side but I think you have great views on both sides.

It was a bit slippery last month but nothing to really stop anyone from taking a short hike that took us around 20 minutes at an easy pace. There is also a path that cuts off to the right that takes you towards Selfoss (the... More

While I was there I did not encounter any bugs or insects. Iceland was actually pretty bug free when I was there in August, but that might be different when you go. With the amount of mist in the air I doubt you will run... More

Which ever is on the east side will give you a beautiful view of dettifoss, but please also plan on hiking the 1 Km up river to Selfoss which is a beautiful falls and only properly viewed from the east side. If your on the... More
