Altough I signed up for a Sólhestar tour because if its Selfoss location, due to the fact that I read beforehand that tours with the stables close to Reykjavik mostly ride next to the motorway, and was taken to its Reykjavik stables the tour turned out to be amazing. The stable manager took us who had more experience on a... More

We caught a rainy day which was absolutely no problem. We were warmly welcomed by our guide. Helmets, jackets, pants... everything was ready in different sizes. We were two beginners and enjoyed good advices by our guide who was very helpful at all times. Our tour was planned for 2h and we enjoyed every minute of it. The landscape was... More

I rode an adorable Icelandic horse, with such a very lovely nature, called Nota. We went out on a just over 2 hours ride, with a very wonderful guide called Kim. All the horses were a lovely temperament. The lava paths were great to ride along and the scenery was stunning. It was a real wow experience which I would... More

This company was very accommodating! My friend and I booked this tour 20 minutes before pickup and they had availability! We were picked up right at one and taken to see the horses. They gave us some better wind resistant gear and then helped us up on the horses. I had never been horseback riding before so I was scared.....very... More

As a person who loves to try new things, this has been a very pleasant experience. My horse's name is Plessi and she is the sweetest horse ever. She is beautiful, too. Very forgiving to a novice like me. Our guide is very helpful and patient, too. I just can't pronounce her name thus won't even pretend to spell it.... More

Trip Advisor doesn't list this company as an option in Reykjavik, but they do offer a horseback riding tour near the city as well as out in Selfoss. We found out about it from a hotel brochure. We chose the closer one, just because it didn't take as much time in the day as going all the way to Selfoss.... More

Had an awesome time on the trip :) I would highly recommend it. The horses are amazing, very well trained and very smart. Our guide was great. Can't wait to come back.

Riding Icelandic horses was one of the must-do activities during our trip to Iceland and we chose Solhestar from the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed - from the time we arrived we felt welcomed, informed and in safe hands. Icelandic horses are amazing animals and Solhestar brings out the best in them - we would recommend these... More

Something a little different to try outside the centre of Reykjavik - Approx. 30 minute drive but they pick you up from the centre of town. Very friendly staff and horses, tailored to meet the needs of the group. Would definitely recommend.

The main horse stable Solhestar is in Hveragerdi, where most tours take place. Only the riding in Reykjavik tour is offered from another small stable close to Reykjavik. I did the Reykjavik tour and the family riding tour in Hveragerdi and enjoyed both. The two horses I got to ride were both adorable with a friendly character and nice gaits.... More
