Take a walk down the hill and follow the path around from the visitor center. Pretty cool waterfall to check out. Easy walking. The cracks in the Earth were cool to see as well. Worth a visit while on the Golden Circle Drive. You also...More

We came here twice, once to snorkel and again on our Golden Circle route. The hiking trail along the ridge near the snorkeling site is lovely. We had a picnic lunch at one of the several tables.

You drive up to a visitor center on a hill. There is a lookout over the park. A couple of walking trails criss-cross the small park. The cool thing is that the Eurasian & North American tectonic plates are here -- and moving further apart...More

We planned ahead to visit this park, but once we arrived we could not figure out where anything was. We were touring on our own, so could not break out the Icelandic directional signs for accessing the Park center. We got to the first parking...More

You just have to see it. It is a spectacular scenery which I've never seen before. See the pictures - no more to say than wow. Take your time (at least 2 1/2 hours) and walk till the end and to the waterfall.

A filming location for Game of Thrones, the national park showcases the one of the few places on earth where continental plates (North American and Eurasian) meet above the ocean. Here is where the largest natural lake in Iceland, Thingvallavatn, is. If you are into...More

This area is where the tectonic plates collide in Iceland. The area is a rift zone. Ancient lava flows created a sheltered crack used for important historical meetings.

We joined a guided tour. Our coach stopped at the parking lot, closed to the viewing platform. There should not be any problem reaching the platform. However, the pickup point was at the other end of the park entrance, and... More
