Amazing architecture and a hidden gem at the top of the mountain. Take the tram to the top and walk around the corner to the square. You can't miss it and will not regret making the short trip to the top.

I liked the story of this church and the black Madonna's statue that they have here. This statue were brought here from Nazareth- the hometown of Jesus, gave the name to this lovely town.

A church perched up on the top of the cliff, beautiful in its simplicity. Inside a fresque of azulejos sits beside images of Christ and gold ornements. A striking contrast that at first seems out of place, but speaks of the Portuguese identity and Catholocisme.

This is a very nice and very old church build in the original fishermen village up in the cliff over the beach. It is one of the few buildings surviving the modernization and commercialization of the village. The church is on a lovely square, with...More
