With a volume of more than 100,000 m3 and a surface covering 9,371 m2, the Tourist galleries represent approximately one-third of the cave. The cave has been used as a habitat, a burial site and for cultural expression. There are remnants testifying to the passage of hunters, gatherers and fishermen from more than 30,000 years ago. The General Visit starts with the screening of a audiovisual presentation in which you will be able to see spectacular details of the cave (10 minutes). Then an audio-guided visit through the different chambers of the Cave, in a pleasant walk of about 45 minutes where you will discover the many secrets the grotto keeps (audio-guided in Spanish, English, German, French, Italian and Russian). When the cave closes its doors, a small group of privileged people can enter the mystery of the underworld to enjoy the magnificence and beauty of the cave, and discover its secrets. You can choose between three modalities of Exclusive Tours

We were staying in Nerja for a week and decided to walk to the caves, although a bus is available. You can pay €10 in cash or credit card (at machine on wall next to cash desk). Tickets are timed. Price includes audio guide. A short 10 min video is played with do's and don'ts and the history of the... More

Worth a visit and the interior is amazing. Seriously cooler inside than the temperature outside. You can buy a photo of you exiting the caves, even if on the steep side

This is one place you have to visit. Fact that it is not man made makes it all the more wonderful and a brilliant example of what nature is capable of. Having said that, you could then feel that there's no point in going to any other caves. Guess they are all pretty much alike.

Nice experience, kind of the thing to see if you are in Nerja. They have audio guides in several languages. Everything is organized and looks safe for everyone. Some stairs, but anyone in ok health will manage without difficulty.

What a spectacular scene, a guide and electronic aid to explain the history and finding of the caves, careful if you have problems with walking as there are over 450 steps to climb. The cost of 15 euros gets you a trip on the train to and from the caves.

These caves found by 5 boys while playing in the area in 20th Century has a history that goes back thousands of years. The caves are huge and only 1/4 are available for public tours. These caves are larger than the ones in Gibraltar and are not illuminated with colored lights, so easier to photograph! The caves are also used... More

I was expecting a small cave ...you know ... like a small costal inlet .... WOW .... this attraction is amazing ... it is like Cheddar Gorge and WookY Hole rolled into one and doubled at least ... I had trouble walking because was jaw was dragging on my toes ... stunning .... absolutely stunning ... In musical terms I... More

Is not the only cave of this type but it must be on of the largest. Very impressive. It takes app 45 minutes and you do not really need a jacket as it is 19 deg C in the cave. The cave paintings are not displayed due to need to protect them. Copies may be viewed in the city museum.

We recently visited these caves and were overwhelmed with what we saw. Absolutely fabulous and not too many people were allowed in at the same time so we had plenty of time to admire the sights. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
