We toured the inside by ourselves. We didn't do the guided tour of the water storage but I would expect that to be good. We watched the introductory audiovisual on the room on the left just after entrance - you have to push the appropriate button on the right at the back to get your language. We then walked around... A beautiful and large fortress. Has elements which speak about the medieval era and also the Spanish civil war. We took the 15€ guided tour, which includes a short boating incide the underground water reservoir. Really nice place! Take water with yourself; if you like places like this you can be there easily 2-3 hours.

I have visited a number of forts in Europe and the United States but none like this. Definitely take the tour. Our guide spoke perfect English and could drive 8-10 people in a small open truck around the interior of the fort. The fort has a perimeter of 3.5 Kilometers and was manned by 4000 soldiers. The guide fully explained... More

We visited Sant Ferran Castle as a surprise for my husband, who is former military and very interested in fortifications. We booked The Water's Cathedral tour, which is a guided tour via 4x4 that also takes you into the defensive tunnels below as well as the cisterns by boat. I would like to note that in order to make prior... More

With so many sites dealing with medieval history in the area, this is a bit different in that the fort was built in the last 200 years and was active until recently. It is easy to walk through and get an understanding of the fort and the reason for it. We took the self-guide tour.

We found this huge Fortress very interesting in its construction and its history. Entrance fee was only Eu4 and included a self guided audio guide. Worth a visit if you are interested in history.

We have had a house neat Figueres but never the Castle tour until today. Simply brilliant and an excellent tour guide. The undergrad waterway part of the tour was superb and the stables fabulous. What a treasure!

We had a guided tour. The guide spoke perfect English and was very engaged in her presentation of the fortress. The tour takes you around the fortress by a jeep, and on the way there are smaller side trips such as boating in the water reservoirs under the fortress and walk in tunnel designed to defend the fortress from underground... We weren't sure what to expect as the fort undersells itself in local publicity! What you get is a really fascinating insight into a massive military installation housing, at one time, over 4000 troops and thousands of horses. We were glad we had opted for the 4x4 and boat trip - this is a good way to get round the... More

My wife and I rocked up here for a tour, just expecting to walk around the fortifications; we had a few hours to kill before a visit to the Dali museum, so thought this would fit the bill. When we arrived we were offered the 4x4 and boat tour, basically a guided tour of the fort in a landrover followed... More
