- Trish C123 contributionsA wonderful place to visitThe museum is absolutely fascinating and is housed in a wonderful building. As we visited on a Tuesday we were able to visit the first floor which gave a further insight into the history of the building and its current usage. Martin the museum receptionist/guide was friendly and informative. He also filled up our water bottle. The museum visit is very good value.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 12, 2024
- Amanda W1,150 contributionsGood balanceTotally wheelchair accessible. Right balance of notices, screens and videos. Wonderful St John’s cup. Don’t need to know anything about kings lynn before visiting. Great old building and if you go on Sunday can see more rooms upstairs. Lots of activities for children. Toilets but no cafe but lots of places to eat nearby and pay and display parking opposite. Cheap entry.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten June 16, 2024
- GurgledurbSurrey, United Kingdom199 contributionsA mixed destinationWe visited for a map of the local area at first and this was really good and the resources informative. The Stories of Lynn was a mixed bag with the first and main undercroft gallery trying to be a museum with very few objects but for children there was much more on offer and the school group there were thoroughly engaged so it did its job. As an adult I was confused by the narrative and use of space. The gaol cells were much better and the interpretation and use of the space really fitting. I appreciate this isn’t the main museum but I think as home to the archives there are many more stories which could be told in the space drawing from the collections. More character based stories and local tales must be possible with the wealth of records a local archive holds. I think the website suggests a lot more than there is but what is there is fine and it’s suitably priced for entry.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten July 5, 2024

Pushchair accessible. Lots to learn about and look at. Staff were excellent. It was clean and tidy. They could charge a lot more than £3.95. Brilliant. Do not miss out.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten August 6, 2024

We found a visit to this museum near the Kings Lynn Minster very interesting showing us the way folk lived and how they were treated in times gone by. The Gaol was particularly interesting together with the other forms of punishment such as stocks and ducking stool etc. It was also interesting to learn more about Robert Walpole who was the local MP and subsequently became the first British Prime Minister.

Most interesting and a good start to our day exploring King’s Lynn. Lots of information and good displays - prison section particularly atmospheric with sound effects as you wander through. King’s Lynn has much to offer the visitor and Stories of Lynn is worth putting on your agenda.

We spent 90 minutes in this delightful museum. Covid meant we were the only ones in. You get an interesting insight into the history of Lynn. Excellent displays, including the King John cup. Loved the jail and the ducking stool was a favourite!!
