Living in Oxfordshire I have seen the famous White Horse from a distance but never close up so decided it was time to do so! Car park was full so was sent to overflow parking, walked across and up to top of the hill, it was sunny day but cold wind blew. As it was Easter weekend it was busy... More

We enjoyed a walk right around the whole side up and down the hills in persuit of a perfect picture of the complete horse, unfortunately the undulating ground on which the horse was place means an aerial view is needed. However it was a nice clear day to overlook the surrounding countryside, it was not particularly busy and there was... More

On a clear day you can see for miles. Enjoyable for all the family, please keep an eye on your children when around the horse itself. Its very steep here, and whilst we were walking a young child was walking round the horse unsupervised and fell....cuts and bruises only, could have been far worse. On top of the hills its... More

What a stunning view from the top. A must see on a good sunny day. Not much is free these days so don't miss it. You might have to pay to park if not a National Trust member but don't let that put you off.

Well worth the walk, what a magical place. We were lucky with the weather, but at any time of year this is well worth a visit.

Parked in National Trust car park and walked up to the white horse on a breezy sunny Spring day. All you could hear was aircraft overhead - and skylarks! In terms of the white horse itself, there are better ones in the country and it is quite difficult to photograph this one. However, it is a lovely site with views... More

In brief: atmospheric, historic, beautiful views, charming walks, The Ridgeway. It's got plenty! Access etc.: We parked in a signposted car park and walked along the top of the ridgeway to reach the white horse after a visit to Wayland's Smithy (we came in just under the horse, which was a great spot for viewing). Good signposted walks, and information... More

Well worth a visit if you are anywhere close to Uffington. A lovely drive up one side and across the upper level and into the car park which is spacious but can get busy due to the amount of people visiting. You can get outline to the white horse itself but its better viewed from the main road. There are... More

From the nearest car park it is a gentle uphill stroll to the famous Uffington white horse. It is possible to walk right by it - but don't spoil the chalk outline. Great views over the hills including some fascinating features including the "dragon"

The walk from the large Uffington White Horse car park to the neolithic barrow of Wayland's Smithy is about a mile in length and takes in a short section of the ancient Ridgeway. The track was surprisingly dry for February but walking boots were required for the muddier sections. Wayland's Smithy is well-signposted at the beginning of the route and... More
