As a former Cuckfield resident it was well worth a visit during a recent stay in the village. The volunteers who run the museum show great dedication & enthusiasm. My Mum was able to donate some old photos that will hopefully be useful for future display or exhibitions.

Cuckfield Museum is a classic village museum, all manner of things crammed into a small space, telling the story of the village and the surrounding area. It's particularly good for people interested in social history and also those interested in transport. The village was a major stopping point on the coaching route and there are also good displays of the construction of the railway at nearby Haywards Heath and its impact on the area. Well worth a visit.

This charming museum contains very informative and well-curated exhibits on local history. But the real treat is the enthusiasm of the volunteer "stewards" who delight in sharing their knowledge of Cuckfield - along with some nice gossip!

Everything a village museum should be. My primary interest was their costume display and it did not disapoint. Well lit, extremely well kept and laid out, the cases held a vast selection of items of local interest, costume, found items and lots about dinosaurs. The building itself is worth seeing. Built in 1897 and very Tardis like in its space.

Situated on the first floor of Queens Hall this little museum is a great place to spend an enjoyable half hour. It has several displays of different aspects of local life and at the moment the theme is of railways and why 150 years ago the railway bypassed the town of Cuckfield. Open on three days a week, check the internet for details.

A small, beautifully laid out Museum upstairs at the Queen's Hall, Cuckfield. Masses of local history, from the dinosaurs at Whiteman's Green to beautiful stained glass, and grandfather clocks made in Cuckfield. A special exhibition covers the coming of the railway to Haywards Heath 175 years ago, with a navvy going to work carrying all his kit, photos of the station and the tunnel being dug at Haywards Heath, and many artefacts. Well worth a visit, with friendly and knowledgeable volunteer staff, and lots to interest children!

This small museum is well worth a visit if you live locally and it would be worth popping in if you are a visitor too. There are items on the stairs up to the corridor and room at the front of the building that houses the museum, including two pictures of the excavation of the railway tunnel at Haywards Heath in the 1840s which was then part of Cuckfield.

There's a huge map from the 1880s was one of several things which my friend and I found fascinating, and items from fossils onwards. It's free and run by some charming volunteers, though plan your visit as it's only open on Wednesday mornings 10-12.30 and Fri/Sat 10-4. They also have a room with reference books and family history resources, though we didn't investigate that.

Some of the exhibits are permanent and other displays changes seasonally. Some local history booklets for sale. If you are there on the hour you will hear one of the grandfather clocks chime. Disabled access via a lift.
