We visited the exhibition at Drinishader. Although up a narrow single track road it was worth the trip. The exhibition was well presented and not too large. We could only be used impressed reading how widely the product is used. The shop was shut and nobody was in attendance. Coffee was available, payment by honesty box. It is also a lovely spot.

This is a great little attraction on the Golden Road (which in itself if worth a visit). I really enjoyed this little exhibition and learning of the history of Tweed. There's an old building with a shop and in a back room you'll find lots of Harris Tweed loom and weaving history.

Adjacent is a very modern building with a dedicated exhibition, showing garments by famous fashion designers to the present day. I loved it here. The scenery alone takes your breath away.

As you enter the exhibition there's mention of the famous deal that Harris Tweed did in supplying Nike for trainers/shoes. I would have expected (and loved) to see the Tweed Nike trainers on display and reading about this lovely story, so was disappointed they were not part of the exhibition.

Some of our group of seven came here without me and came away with two purchases. They bought a men's Tweed jacket and a Tweed (lavender) Owl. The shop here is well stocked but, dare I say, not very well merchandised.

I wanted to come here so jumped in the car the same afternoon on my own.

Prices of tweed are not exactly what you'd call cheap but you're paying for quality that'll probably last a lifetime.

Liz in our party asked at the till about the price of the Owl. She thought she heard fourteen, but it was actually FORTY!

Too embarrassed to say anything at the till, she paid for her item. Subsequently we've all been in stitches since!

Since this happened the "Owl" has become a currency. The men's jacket was a very reasonable "6 Owls"

I did make a purchases. A fine pair of Tweed men's gloves which were very good value at just over One Owl. This matches my Tweed drawstring bag for which I paid under a fifth of an Owl.

The moral of the story is that pricing here is not very clear, and quite a lot of stock is not price ticketed, so do check beforehand. It's definitely worth a visit if you're passing.

Easy to miss as unpretentious outside. Good selection of tweed and tweed articles, impossible not to buy! Explanation in museum made it all come to life.

We were made extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were allowed to try on the different styles and sizes to find the 'right fit'.Lots of lovely items and gifts all in Harris knitwear or tweed.
Well worth the detour off the main road

Greta little shop and showroom for knitwear and Harris tweed. very helpful staff. Purchased a mans jumper which was half the price of what you would pay at Brora.

There's a display area with about twenty minutes of film, interviewing the different people involved in making and marketing tweed, including a filmed interview with the late Marion Campbell BEM, a quiet prizewinning tweed weaver. The hard work that goes into making tweed is remarkable, and the material itself is tough and warm. There's an old loom and weaving equipment in the shop attached... but beware the roads! Single track and surprisingly busy.

Who would have thought that there was so much you could do with tweed! We spent ages here selecting gifts for various people. There was everything from dog collars to book marks and coats. The ladies were so friendly and patient with us. They showed us the artefacts in the shop and talked about the wool and the history a little bit. They then arranged to post our purchases back home for us as we had limited space on our bikes. The small museum at the back was interesting and showed tweed in the fashion industry and told us all we wanted to know about the production and the history of the manufacturing. What a great place.
