Enjoyed the day with family experiencing life on a Mennonite village perspective from 100 years ago. Tasted delicious waffles with vanilla sauce, candy store from the turn of the century, horse drawn wagon ride, and especially picturesque-windmill! Also enjoyed the indoor exhibit of paintings of matriarchs throughout the last several generations of Mennonite families, and afterwards the gift shop. A... More

The village is a showcase of life in Manitoba when it was settled by Eastern European Mennonites in the 1800s. I learned a great deal about Mennonite culture, history, and way of life. The buildings within the village are interesting for their purpose and historic significance. The volunteers that work in the village are quite generous with stories and information.... More

My husband and I took our kids to the Museum today and we had a wonderful time. Today was a special events day with the Fall on the Farm program running. It was the first time our children and my husband visited and it was such a great day! Our son has been asking to go visit the windmill for... More

The visit was made more interesting by my kids completing a "scavenger hunt" of sorts to mark things off they saw at the various buildings. They had different lists, each containing historical facts and details about the site....so we got a lot covered. The highlight were the farm animals, general store candy and actors in costume!

We spent a couple of hours here learning about the history and culture of the Mennonites in Canada (about which we knew very little previously). Having seen this "village" on The Edge of Canada, we were interested to go, but it was not quite the "village" we expected - it is an interesting "heritage site" though.

The museum offers a good variety of things to see, great staff and volunteers. The added activities for kids added a great element for my younger guests.

Had two handicapped people that could not have walked the whole village and stayed there for the 6 1/2 hours that we did. But to our surprise our handicapped party was offered the use of either wheelchairs, walkers, electric scooters or for the 4 of us to be together in a 4 seater ,clean, fully charged golf cart. FREE! Which... More

It's one thing for me to have heard the stories of my ancestors, it's another thing entirely to see what life looked like in the early 1900s when our people first came to Canada. The exhibits triggered various responses from inspiration (what ingenuity!) to sadness and empathy (what losses were incurred, even loss of life due to the elements). Whether... More
