We went here with our 2,5 and 7 year old grandsons. The beach is beautiful and the kids loved it and loved the atmosphere of the surrounding town. They had been to St Petersburg Beach, Florida in June. Said this was more fun!

Nice beach and lots of parking, and is ideal for family with young children. It is normally very calm, and the odd times you have some waves.

Early spring and mid August you will get waves . When the tide is high. But for the most part the bay is calm.

12km of free public beach... the longest white sand beach on freshwater on the planet, a large part of it on national park land... pay to park close to the beach or park for free farther away and walk
