If you have only one day in El Chalten and it happens to be a clear day, do not hesitate and do this hike. You will get to see mountains most of the way and you will be rewarded at the end with a view of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre with the Laguna.,

This trek is so worthwhile. Up at the top, in a clear day, you will have the very best view of Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy together in a beautiful angle you just don't achieve from walking up to their respective lagunas. The hike up is fairly gently all the way to after the forest. It is a gently... More

Loma is a sensational walk with incredible vistas. We went in early September, which is still considered winter in these parts so there was still plenty of snow around. The walk there and back is steady elevation gain, with less steep pinches than other walks in El Chalten. The view across really needs a clear day to be appreciated.

The hike up to Loma del Pliegue Tumbado is a lovely gradual climb to a great vista point for looking at Mt Fitzroy and – if you are lucky – Cerro Torre. Don’t drink from the streams lower down, as there are animals grazing. Higher up, in the open rock country, you can drink from the one stream the trail... More

We've hiked most of the trails around El Chalten and this hike was especially nice due to the fact the trail was uncrowded, the slope was gentle (but pretty consistently upward), and the vista at the end was fantastic. We ran into a herd of cattle on the trail in both directions which seemed a bit intimidating at first (especially... More

Not many travellers hike this trail which I am thankful for. After trekking to Laguna de los Tres, it was a relief to not have to share this trail with hundreds of others. The hike was more peaceful and I had more of a wilderness experience. The landscape and scenery is amazing along the entire trail. The trail itself is... More

Often overlooked in favor of Laguna de los tres and laguna Torre, this was my favorite of the 3 hikes I did in El Chalten. In my opinion, the summit offers the best panoramic views of the various peaks including Mt Fitz Roy, cerro Torre and several glaciers and lakes such as cerro glacier and Laguna Torre and Capri. Similar... More

I did the three major walks around El Chalten while I was in town: this one, Laguna Torre, and Laguna de los Tres (Fitz Roy), and I thought the views on this walk were the best by far. The walk is 10 km one way, with 1000 m elevation gain up to the summit of the hill, but that elevation... More

This hike is just as great as the Fitz Roy hike, maybe even better. The views at the end are amazing on a clear day. Cerro Torre, Laguna Torre, and Fitz Roy. When you get to the end of the hike you can already appreciate the great view, plus you have the option on your left to go up the... More

This is one of the best day hikes we have done. The views at the top are simply amazing. I would strongly recommend making this the hike you choose to do on a clear day in El Chalten.
