There are many amazing sites on Easter Island, but I would rate this as the must see, most spectacular place. You are only allowed in once on a 10 day pass so plan to spend as much time as you need. You never get tired...More

This is the spot where the moai were carved out of the stone before being moved to the permanent site. Certainly one of the most beautiful as well as the most famous of the Rapa Nui sites.

Most of the Moai on the island have been moved since the discovery of the island, in that nearly no Moais were discovered standing up. So the sites with standing moai have mostly been "restored". Rano Raraku is the quarry where the moai were chiseled...More

The number 1 must see on the Easter Island. The "birthplace" of the moai. With the biggest moai (more than 20 meters) still remains in the place which it was carved. A truly fascinating & mystical place.

even if the other statues were impressive too, this one remembered me most of the Indiana Jones movies, the reason why I came to South America, to live my childhood dream. Rano is quite isolated, but the formation is just fascinating. Jorge, our guide for...More

All of the sites were fairly easily accessible for people who could walk a short distance. We could get fairly close to the Moai and guides were excellent.

Go early as crowds are coming right after 10:00. We got early, but sadly after 15 min it started to rain. We headed back to the car and waited for the sun to come out. After an hour we could head in again and you...More

to be there is even better than it looks from the pictures! Moai and nature! Several Moai, standing, seated, laid down... and breath taking views of the inner lake, the far away blue sea, the countryside!
