The best light on the Moais is at the evening! If you are lucky, sunrise will be amazing and without clouds or rain!

Located far from everything, this is a peaceful place with amazing views. All accompanied by 15 restored Moai on a large Ahu. Too beautiful and special to describe. Be sure to visit Ahu Tongariki, otherwise you cannot you've visited Easter Island.

Place, this is the one you must visit while on the Island. While Ahu Tongariki is on the opposite side of the Island from most Hotels you must make it for the Sunrise, it is one of the best views in the world! I repeat,...More

This line up of 15 Moai backs up to a cove. Even sans statues, it is a lovely spot. And for as far as you can see in any direction, there is no development of any kind. That is one element that greatly surprised me,...More

this is one of the largest archeological sights on the island; it was restored in the 1990's. I took a gazillion pictures. Just couldn't get enough to 'staring' at these immense statues and realizing that you are among the few people in the world who...More

It was very interesting how the statues you had always seen on TV, which considered to be probably the most mysterious statues in the most remote place on the planet, just standing right in front of you, it was quite fun. When you stand under...More

Here are fifteen moais, all shapes and sizes, neatly lined up in a row. There is something rather grand and dignified about this place. All part of the great Easter Island experience.

I went there by bike, there's just 1 street that leads there, you can't go wrong!
Hi there thanks for your reviews on Easter Island. We are thimking of going there this year and I was just wondering how you went about hiring a car? Was it difficult to drive and which side of the road do they drive on ( we are from Australlia so drive on the left but I'm thinking they probably drive on the right?) Thanks for your help Suzie

We were there last month (3/2015). They drive on the right side of the road. I saw a car rental place right in town but don't know what they cost. If I were you, I'd take a small group or private tour. The tour guides have... More
