This is the place for an amazing sunset!

Go visit this during the day but seriously, don't forget to go here for sunset! To see the sun setting between the Moai's, is unbelievable!

First stop on the island to see our first moat at sunset. One with eyes painted that was apparently done for a French magazine to show what they originally looked like - interesting spot but other places better

The Ahu Tahai group is not part of the Rapa Nui National Park, thus no admission tickets are required. They are located close to the ocean, down from the museum make a left turn on the road towards the city, until you see the moais on your right. We were there on an early afternoon, there was nobody else there... More

you can imagine the hustle and bustle of people going in and out of the water. the neighbors and kids playing. you just have to sit there and take it all in. the beauty of the water as the backdrop and the maoi. it is hard to imagine

Popular spot for sunset and rightfully so. Colours are beautiful and the silhouettes of the moai make it special.

This visit was an afternoon stop on tour from our first full day. Loved the reconstructive efforts, especially with the eyes slightly pointed upwards - as they should be. The location with the background courtesy of the rolling Pacific made these grounds even more inviting.

This is the first Moai we saw upon arrival in Hanga Roa as they are the closest to the city center and located right there on the waterfront. The views at subset are the most amazing ones since it is directly behind the Moai. This is definitely a must do while on Easter Island.

This location is right on the coast, fairly near to the town. There are 3 separate groups of states. 2 standing alone, then a platform of them, which has been significantly eroded. Loved the reconstructed statue with the eyes. It gave you a real good sense of what they would have originally looked like. Hard to get pictures in the... More

Nice reconstructed Ahu, very close to Hanga Roa. It is a 15 minutes walk from downtown. Actually the Tahai complex has three Ahus, Vai Uri, Ahu Tahai and the Ahu Ko Te Riku with the most famous statue, because of the reconstructed eyes. You can also see some reconstructed Paenga houses. It is a very nice place to watch the... More
