This Ahu is walking distance from Hanga Roa the town and easily accessible- nice stroll walking along the coast. Go for sunset and hopefully with no clouds you will see beaitiful colours in the sky behind the Moai silhouettes. Bring camera with fully charged battery...More

Ahu Tahai is one of the locations that has had restoration, so the Moai are all standing on their Ahu's or platforms. This location is close to the center of Hanga Roa, with the northern part of town basically wrapping around the site. This was...More

This is the closest ahu to Hanga Roa so if you are staying in any hotel here you can easily walk here. There are three restored platforms, one with five moai, one with one moai and the last with one moai with topknot and restored...More

Being so close to Hanga Roa this is a must see location and loved that one of the moai had painted in eyes. Apparently very good for sunset.

This is a worthwhile place to visit, but it’s not quite as interesting as some of the other sites. Definitely walk down to the water to be sure you see everything!

This is one of the best Moai locations on the island and one of the few with eyes in the Moai. My favorite Moai location is Tangariki, which in my opinion has the biggest and best Moai display. There are more Moai at the crater...More

A great place to start your trip on Rapa Nui. It is a walking distance away from Hanga Roa and the port.

This is within easy walking distance from town - just past the cemetery and toward the Museum. There are 5 Moai in one area, and a fully reconstructed Moai nearby (with eyes) as well as one other. It is a very popular place from which...More

It's one of the closest Ahu to town, you can get a good idea of what was life like for the islanders and visit your first set of Moai.

This is very close to "downtown" Hanga Roa, so you should drop by, if only to see the only moai that has had its eyes replaced. A nice enough place, but not as spectacular as some of the other sites. To get the best pix...More

Hi!) Mataveri airport is 7 kilometres from the city centre. The city is very small and the traffic is very small. So you'll have 20 minutes to get to the airport.
