This old school turned craft, gallery, yard sale and hostel is a unique venture by the seniors of Port Mouton. There are quality crafts of every kind on a consignment basis From local individuals I n 2 large rooms. The gallery occupies another large room with a variety of pieces. Marilyn Kellough has her studio on the premises and welcomed us along with sharing her paintings and sea glass work. She is a wonderful, talented individual who will be the artist in residence in Baddeck for 2 months, we think June and July 2016. The income from the yard sale pays the oil heat for the year and the seniors do a variety of fund raising events to cover the other costs of the building.

This is an eclectic mix of everything a treasure hunter could ever hope for! There's a perpetual yard sale room full of second hand "treasures"... old clothing, home appliances, dishes and paraphernalia
There's a library of books that you can browse too: hard covers are $2 and softcovers 25 cents or 5 for $1. A wide variety of different books.
Local crafts made by artisans include homemade jewellery, knitting, dog accessories, clothing and other crafty stuff... all made by local people :) What a wonderful idea! Also, perennials are for sale, and sometimes baked goods too.
Marilyn Kellough's art studio is also here, and on a lucky day you'll get to meet with the artist herself. Other artists work are on display in the hallway for you to browse as well, though Marilyn's are the best.
A hostel in the basement offer's lodging year round... I don't know the details of that, though it looks clean and well kept.

Stay here all the time on trips to the south shore. Bill is great and very accommodating. Sometimes get the place to myself, sometimes get to meet other guests. The space is huge with a full kitchen and living room area. Great spot and great price.

We stopped in for the lighthouse art show and were thororoughly impressed by the art and the extra space with many, many crafts and art work for sale. Visitors can also visit the yard sale room, and explore the used book corridor, leading to a CAPS site, with computers and Internet. A full service facility with lots to see and explore.

Don't let the "old schoolhouse" look fool you .... this place is packed with surprises! Local crafts - knitting, sewing, ornaments, jewellery, paintings (artist on site too), etc. There are also rooms with used books, dishes, kitchen utensils, etc. Another room features paintings by NS artists, as well as a room for a local artist to work and display her beautiful paintings (Marilyn Kellough). Please take the time to stop (and shop). It is worth leaving Highway 103 for! Queens County has lots of talent! There is also a 30 bed Hostel on site.
