This site deserves many more ratings on TripAdvisor. The owner is clearly passionate about air and space travel and has many interesting artifacts ranging from ancient times to the present. To top it off is a display at the end regarding extraterrestrial life. Note that the opening times are 2 to 5 pm, and 7 pm to 9 pm. Best to call ahead and confirm.

It's a different place to go in Villa de Leyva, the owners are charming and the place is cozy. The night we went we could only see the moon and another star, the rest of the time they showed us the museum and told us stories. I recommend to go in a darker night to be able to see more of the sky

This is a family run place where very knowleagable people show you in a wonderful sky stars, the constelations and a small museum! We had a wonderful time! The sky was very clear and we got to see a comet! I would really reccomend this place for a bit of culture and fun altogether!

Our best experience in Colombia so far. Not a huge tourist hub, a small hidden gem in Villa de Leyva. It is a privately owned observatory managed by passionate astronomers. With the bright skies of Villa de Leyva, the whole sky was easily observable. Orion, Perseus, Andromeda and even a comet (lovejoy) was seen. The kids loved. A small tour on their museum was also interesting with explanation on how ancient people built observatories. Amazing how such a great place is run by people without any government support. These guys tried to send a mouse to space (I will not spoil the story)
