Full-Day Private Tour to Villa de Leyva

Escape the bustling centre of Bogota on a day trip to Villa de Leyva, a tranquil colonial town located on a mountaintop. Due to its remote position far from any major trade routes, the town hasn’t been subject to modernization and provides a glimpse into historic Colombia. This tour includes hassle-free hotel pickup and drop-off, and a traditional Colombian lunch.

Peaceful, beautiful, amazing I love Boyacá landscapes, also I love cold weather, the lake is beautiful, the beach is wonderful too, even it's artificial or natural, you can take a shower to reboot your nervous system or just seat there and relax listening to the water and the wind.

This place is very busy on the weekends and holidays. The entrance is off a small 2 lane road and if you get there late there is a line to drive down to the lake or you can park off the main road and walk down, not suggested for older people. There is not much shade. There are small shops selling food and drink and a restaurant, boat rides, ATVs for rent. The beach is nice.

We went on a Thursday in the middle of the day, so there were only about five other people on the beach (though I hear it gets quite busy on weekends and holidays). It was a bit brisk and windy, so bring a jacket. Despite the cold, 2-3 of the 5 people were swimming (we did not). Once you get to the beach, you can walk to your left and find a trail that goes around the tip of the land. It looks like you shouldn't be walking there, but there is a trail, and you end up arriving at a cute restaurant called Arco Iris Del Lago. It seemed like a hidden gem, and there was only one other table of people when we were there. Very good lake views, and the trout was pretty good. It was relaxing taking a bus to Playa Blanca, since the countryside is so peaceful. It's worth an hour or so visit.

For those who live in the inner part of Colombia, or are just visiting this region, and love the beaches,.. this is a good choice in a sunny day. You can enjoy beautiful landscapes, and a nice beach, which is part of the beautiful "Lago de Tota" in Aquitania, Boyacá.
