Really chilled out beach with not a lot of people. The water was warm and the sand starched for ages. Everything you would want from a South Pacific Beach.

I loved Tonga, but it's not really set up for tourists, which is fine - but finding a nice beach to swim on can be a mission - we spent hours driving around, there are hardly any signs, and most roads leading to the sea seemed to stop on a cliff edge. Ha'atafu beach, though, was easy to find and... More

A beach easily reached by car if staying in the town or close to the major resorts. Lots of rocks to clamber on and rock pools to paddle in as well as a long stretch of sandy beach. Close to a handy local restaurant open only at weekends. They say it is the best surfing beach. We saw a paddle... More

This unique beach has a fantastic reef at it edge with great waves breaking much farther out. Water is clear and warm and the vegetation lush

We drive over here and spent the Sunday in the sun since there wasn't a lot else to do. It was a gorgeous beach and great for snorkeling but sadly I didn't have my gear. Water was so clear though you could see the little blue fishes swimming around. There isn't much shade, so I got quite tanned but it... More

The beach is not the best for swimming as it is mostly rocky and not much water on low tides. BUT, it's the Surfing Beach of Tonga and with lots of sands for sunbathing and beach sport's activities. And it's one of the best spot to see the sun set. There are 3 places to stay there: Ha'atafu Beach Resort,... More

Counted over twenty different tropical fish species. Fishing also easy here by the reef. Heilala Lodge a great place to stay.
