I have visited every Nature center in the state of Arkansas and, in my opinion, this is the best. They have two films to watch, live snakes and other animals, Nature trails, a native plant garden, many activities available and walking trails that lead to Craighead Forest Park. I have been taking my children to this center ever since it... More

If you are traveling through Craighead county or if you have lived in the area forever do not miss the Forrest L Wood Nature Center. The grounds are beautiful and well suited for a picnic. There is a covered area available for shade with picnic tables at the entrance to the center. Inside you can find a host of activities... More

What a wonderful adventure and learning experience! Started with the creation of Crowley's Ridge. Feeling the earthquake, volcano erupt, the mist on your face; and all the changes that took place to make the ridge. Then off to check the the many live animals, tracks, sights ,and sounds. Just so much fun and if you have questions there is always... More

We enjoy the grounds and the inside year round. Any child will find something they are intrigued by. The hands on exhibits are tops.

Beautiful walking trail (mostly fenced and elevated for great views). If you want some great pictures--don't miss this place. The movie was really good--I'm glad that it was recommended to us--we didn't do it last time we were here. Lots of hands on things for kids in the lower level.

The trails are well kept and shaded. The nature center itself has live animals to view (as well as stuffed) which are indigenous to Arkansas. Staff is knowledgeable, and there are kids activities and a video/movie presentation. Good for all ages and it's free. It's on the edge of the city's Forrest Park - where the camping is excellent, and... More

The nature center is conveniently located on the south edge of the city's Craighead Forrest Park - both within the city & great places to visit nature a little without having to leave the city! The nature center offers many displays & interactive displays & talks for kids and has a nice walking trail with a small overlook tower. A... More
