Stuck in small corner of Camedboo Park, little explanation as to what it is, who he was, or why it is there at all. I'm sure the guy must have been important, but nothing to tell you why.

A good thing it was moved and is now well kept and safe from it being broken down. Something which was part of our history and our children need to know about.

Stumbled upon this monument when I visited the Camdeboo National Park. I was surprised to see one of the Voortrekker monuments in the Karoo. Very few of them survive. The monument is in a good condition, but the area around it is very sandy and...More

The statue is now safely behind the fences of the Camdeboo National Park, where it has been placed on a raised knoll, with the Boer leader facing north... looking out along the route that the trekboers took. Artistically, I don't think much of this statue;...More

This monument is situated just inside Camdeboo Nature Reserve - it was moved here for safe keeping. I am not a great monument enthusiast, but this is a particularly attractive statue with An dries in his top hat gazing into the hinterland.

This original homestead that looks interesting from the road, is being turned into a guest house and we could not access the museum.

Worth stopping to see this monument if you are into SA history. Pity it had to be moved from its original location due to vandalism
