This was not a very informative or educational visit. There could have been a lot more information put about about sharks and the reason the Shark lab came about.

very informative... friendly staff. loved it. a wide variety of sea animals to see. touching of the stingrays was special! would like to see this place expand into a bigger Lab. Nice curio section. affordable little gifts. entry fee goes towards a good cause

Hi DeniseM Many thanks for the review. Just what to present on the “education front” and how best to present it, has been hotly debated throughout the Public Aquarium and Zoo world for many years. The current consensus, regarding passive education (the use of information boards and labels), is that “less is more”. Too much passive information leads to an... More

We were in Mossel Bay last week and decided to go to the Shark Lab to see for ourselves what it was like. We had seen several poor reviews but thought we would make our own minds up. Yes it's small, but very informative, the staff are lovely and are happy to spend time with you explaining their objectives and... More

The experience was wonderful. The staff is very polite and friendly. Learn a lot about the different types of species in the sea.

Total waste of money. All there is to see is an octopus, caged sharks and a sick fish. Don't bother visiting

Hi Louis. I take it that you did not swim with our two sharks. This experience has become hugely popular and was enjoyed by over three hundred visitors during December 2016. Swimmers have ranged in age from two and a half years to eighty years old and have included a sight impaired couple. Being able to swim with our two... More

The 2 fish I saw were very unique and the octopus seemed very curious, however the main attraction is to swim with two 1.6M sharks in a large tank. I watched on the other side of the tank while my dad and brother got into the water. I watched how they experience the thrill of getting into the very cold... More

An interesting place, small but informative, there is shark diving with a little shark in a tank, I didn't do that, however the fish life was interesting and informative. The octopus was my highlight.

I will never bring my family to this place again. Dirty, dingy, wet floors and maybe saw 3 fish in the 4 tanks... No staff around except for the lady we paid. You can't call this an aquarium, you'll see more fish in a pet shop.

Did you go into the Shark Lab Chantal ? Are you commenting on the correct Aquarium? Although we display a number of both tropical and cold water marine fish species, we are mainly focused on our “swimming with sharks” experience. Our sharks are housed in an exhibit holding as much water as a large swimming pool which is impossible to... More
