We had a day within the Marine Park, it was, fine. Chole Bay is beautiful, and the snorkeling was good although the beach at Utende wasn't up to much, a bit dirty and having spent time on the other side of the island quite busy...More

We stayed at a home stay literally 50m past the marine park checkpoint where you had to stop and pay entry fee. The fee was $20 per person per day! This is crazy, so we had to pay $20 extra each just to be allowed...More

The snorkeling is great in clear water with hundreds of bright colourful fish. The Blue Lagoon is smaller than I thought but interesting with all the shades of blue with jellyfish, thankfully staying on the floorbed. On the way to the Blue Lagoon the sea...More

We booked our 4 nights stay in Utende, in Marine national Park. We got shocked right at the gate since the entrace fee is 20 USD per day per person, which we didnt have a clue about. The Untende beach is not really nice, its...More

It is very sad that there is very little evidence of what the extremely high charge is going to $24 per day per person, this soon adds up especially for a family. I have only seen the Marine Park boat traveling at high speed checking...More

This was right next to our hotel, Butiama Beach, so was convenient for a walk or stroll. The status of the tide makes a huge different on what you see!

Biggest mistake of our trip. The cost to stay in the park isn't cheap. If the money was used to protect the park no problem but not sure what they do with the money. Don't know why its considered a marine park. The locals still...More

My impressions may have been affected by the fact that the tide was working against me during my stay....when the tide goes out it does pull sediment from the mangroves and this affected the visibility. The variety of fish life was good and some of...More

Many people go to Zanzibar for the beach holidays and dive there. But if diving is your key focus, the Mafia Marine National Park offers a more pristine experience with less tourists and -in my eyes- a better diving experience. As a bonus : going...More

We swam through gorgeous coral gardens & swarms of colourful reef fish. Water clarity was decent, there was no current to speak of and our guide did a good job of pointing out interesting species. Best snorkelling I've seen along the Tanzanian coast.

i stayed in kilindori: the idea of paying 23.60 usd/day on top of accommodation and food and activities was not appealing ( as you must take some activities as the beaches are mostly not swimmable due to the tide. 2 nice beaches are: in the...More
