Climb up the 400 stairs is enclosed and most have railings if needed. The last few to the Ganesh temple are curved and open to the sky. The landing before these is a good spot to take in the view of of the city and the gopurams of the temples.

As the temple is so large and set within the town, it is useful to have a guide. Don't miss the 1000 temple hall- each column took 50 years to carve. There is a viewing point inside to the left that is not well signposted. From here you can see all the gopurams ( temple towers).

The walk to the top, tho lots of steps, isn't very challenging at all. The swami at the temple in the middle of the climb up welcomed us in for a friendly talk about the shrines there and receiving the usual blessings for a small donation. Don't miss it. The eagles soaring around at the viewpoint before the final climb... More

A long way to the top but worth every single step. Fantastic views when you get there and good exercise too!

It has two temples one at the foot of the rock and other at the top of the fort. You have to climb around 350 steps to reach the top. Honestly, it is not as tiring as the step count suggests. If we go here on evening, this looks partially like a picnic as well. It is good, but nothing... More

The temple itself is not very ornate but the views from the top of the rock are incredible. The climb is well worth it. Foreigners pay INR 20 for cameras and are -usually- not allowed in the temples themselves. I was allowed in the Ganesh temple though.

Though climbing a fleet of steps to reach the top of the Rock Fort is an arduous task, you will forget the strain once you view the city from the peak.

This is a glorious temple of Lord Shiv-Devi Parvati and Lord Ganesh. One has to climb a few steps, not very demanding though. From the top one gets good views of the city.
