This beach was in remote location, so it need a lot of effort to reach this place. It worth with the view of beautifull beach and the nature's life. We can learn the cycle life of turtle and enjoy the beautifull forest atmosphere around the place. You can enjoy any of animal's life there too like monkey, buffalo and soon.

While travelling via Land Rover was quite bumpy and involved traversing rivers, it's part of the fun in visiting this attraction. Banyuwangi beach was pristine and unspoilt- a haven for turtle hatcheries. The only issue I have was that some external guides were callous with the sea turtles during the hatching periods. They shined bright lights directly into the turtles'... More

It was a great experience to witness natural selection by releasing baby turtles. Emotional moments, only one baby turtle can survive out of thousands.

It's a long and tough journey to sukamade. In the wet season it might be really tough! When we went with the jeep the rivercrossing should be possible but the river was 6 meter deep!!! Someone had build a raft so we could cross and walk the last 2 km though knee-deep water. In the nighttime you go with a... More

We travelled with our guide and 4x4 driver from Kalibaru. It took 4 hours of driving on bumpy roads and crossing rivers to finally reach our destination, Sukamade Beach. Sukamade beach is about 97 km to southwest of Banyuwangi. It is a natural, quiet, beautiful place and part of the 50,000 hectare Meru Betiri National Park. Almost every night of... More

Although it was not easy to get there, it is absolutely 'a must see' during your visit to Indonesia. There are some organized jeep tours that you can buy in Bunyawangi, but rather expensive when compared to other attractions in the country. Since we were a budget travelers, we were obviously searching for a cheaper option. Found out from one... More

Visit to Sukamade was very nice: the jeep ride through the plantations and jungle was bumpy, but felt like an adventure. Interesting to see the plantation works (e.g. making palm sugar sirop) on the way and to visit 'Green Bay'/Teluk Hijau, which is about 45min walk from the road. Super serene surroundings! Tracking turtles at night was a small adventure.... More

If you are luky it's one of a kind experience and will touch your soul. Don't forget to leave a donation to the Rangers because their work is really important to preserve the sea turtles.
