Sadly you cannot climb up there like before. In 2016 I climb to the very top to see sunset. Also a panoramic views of other pagodas & nature. It was packed with travellers. Still a beautiful scenery around & of course the Pagoda

Most visited pagoda in Yangon. You could hire a local guide at the door, separately, to walk you through the temple if you want. You will be able to learn more about the place this way.

Also on the must see list while in Bagan. It is vibrant and well maintained. It's one of the view with a gold top and makes for good photo contrast to the brick colored ones.

Amongst other temples, Shwesandaw is a good stopover for photo taking, but you probably won't be able to climb the structure as it's undergoing restoration works at the moment.

The Shwesandaw is a remarkable 12 c piece of art. It's an outstanding big temple hit by a strong earthquake last year (which are very common here). Due to that it's partly damaged and it's totally closed for visitors. It was a favorite sunset spot....More

Interesting but very busy and big. Lots of barefoot walking, some on stony bits. Well worth the effort though

I can see that some people mistake this one for Shwezigon which is the golden one. This one, Shwesandaw, is made out of bricks. It’s not possible to climb anymore due to an earthquake in 2017. It’s still worth a visit. It’s got a large...More

This an impressive temple with a large golden stupa in Bagan. Get there by 10 am to beat the tourist crowds. It is smaller than the one in Yangon.
