Dhammayangyi Temple is a huge and massive temple located in Old Bagan. Notwitstanding its grandeur in size and architecture, this temple is empty except for a couple of Buddha statues. One can tell that the temple is hardly maintained at all. The foul smell inside...More

We arrived at this temple shortly after nightfall. The Buddha seen from the arriving road was lit up with LED's and flashing lights. At first the temple was dark, but then they turned on the lights. At night, I'm sure is a different experience than...More

I would recommend visiting this temple, as it's a significant one (built mid 12th century), and beautiful from the outside. The inside also looked lovely, but I was unable to proceed to the innermost sanctum as the smell from bats and rats was so appalling....More

This wasn't my favorite temple in Bagan, but well worth visiting. This is probably one of the quietest temples in all of Bagan and has lots of great history.

It may be the largest temple in Bagan but there is not a lot to see inside and it did not take me long to look around the outside of the temple although there is some good architecture. The view from the front is the...More

Its sheer size takes you by awe. Its grand and looks like a true tribute to Gods by Humans. The engineering looks marvellous and represent the grandeur of bagan in all its glory. No visit to bagan is complete without a visit to Dhammayangi Temple.

The Dhammayangyi temple is very easy to spot on the horizon and among all others surrounding. It's huge and massive in remarkable brick stone. The interior is pretty much like all others, but there's an interesting story of a son killing his king father to...More
