This small house is pretty, but you are not allowed to take pictures of the inside. The outside is quite plain.

Amongst the myriad of temples, pagodas and stupas, some statues remain. After a hundred years of exploring and studying there would still be thousands of years of material to pour through. So I will not try. I will suggest that it is worth the visit and the statues are just another reason so wonder the lands of Bagan. Dusty to... More

Beautiful internal paintings, sadly no photos allowed. Not a temple per se. Just off the road on right heading into Old Bagan on the top road

Small temple that you cannot enter but inside you can see some of the original paintings along a few sides of the entrances.

There are colourful wall paintings in this building. You will see yellow, blue, red, green, black and white colours. It might be 18th century frescoes. We are not allowed to take pictures. Hint: The best time to visit is between 09:30 and 11:30, because there is a man who has the key for this building and he will be there... More

Much smaller in scale than the big-ticket pagodas, much better preserved and much less frequented, Upali Thein allows an unfettered close look beautiful frescos and architectural detail. Loved it!

This small building of buddhism architecture has no significant in style nor in art. But it is quite unique and rare unlike those massive Stupas or Pagodas. Situate on the main road side oof Old Bagan, so you will not waste much of your time to see this place

Upali Thein is a small structure that may not be noticed right away from the outside but once you enter, you'll be amazed by the beautiful wall paintings. You will see how this place is well-preserved. Taking photos is not allowed. We caught the gatekeeper whom we chatted with for a long time. He had very nice stories about Myanmar... More
