The malecon is a nice area to walk along and view the water. There are a couple of prominent landmarks, such as the Chetumal sign and Mexico sign near the ferry terminal that are good for photos. There are also interesting murals of the Mayan gods along the road to the ferry terminal that are worth viewing if you have an interest in Mayan Culture.

The Malecon is a simple and short pier, but the place is very pretty. From the pier you can get a boat to many islands and even cross the border to Belize. The palm trees around complete the tropical scenery and the whole region is clean.

When the weather is hot during the day, you can find families swimming in the bay at various points along the malecón but, when the sun goes down, it gets much more interesting. Park your car near the Italian Coffee Company and head south. Stop and rent a bicycle for 20 pesos an hour and pedal along enjoying the cooler evening air. Stop and treat yourself to a marquesita.

This place is really run down and clearly has seen better days. The bay is completely contaminated and not safe to swim in. The stench of raw sewage was unbearable. It's really sad that the locals don't take care of the environment. Nothing worth seeing here. An utter waste of time!

I recommend to walk at sunset because the weather is better than mid-day. It's a big path, but you can find a lot of life in some kilometers start in front of Governmental Palace to billboard "Aquí inicia México". In these kilometers, you will find a lot of local food (try a "Machacado"), drinks and enterteiment. Other parts of the path has restaurants and bars.

The Malecon in Chetumal is simple and you can have a stroll with ocean view. There is pretty much nothing else to see in Chetumal. This city is not exactly a touristic hotspot :)

We needed time away from the resort and to meet the locals. The weather was great, and the water view was the best ever.

Went here while staying in Belize. Had a great time visiting Chetumal. Felt like Texsd with all of the restaurants we have here.

A real treasure along the long waterfront of Chetumal. Great area for walking, running, bicycling, playing, birding, or just relaxing. The nicest natural space a city could have.

Saludos,
Normannd
