- Jane KCardiff, United Kingdom23 contributionsVery interesting Colonial house. We visited this lovely colonial house last week, which the owners are beautifully renovating along with the grounds. We were given a tour and told the history, and then allowed to explore on our own. We were then treated to an outstanding lunchtime meal second to none . The food really was fantastic. Cooked by the lady of the house. We would really recommend that you visit . You won’t be disappointed.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2024
- JanenPhil40 contributionsLovely relaxing day out with delicious foodA beautiful relaxing place to visit. A few rooms have been renovated which you give an idea of how life was. We had a superb lunch which was beautifully cooked and ate on the veranda. This is surrounded by lush gardens. They were not massive but very nice to look at. All in all we would highly recommend a day here as a perfect day away from the beach. We will visit again next season.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten February 13, 2024
- David RuddChester, United Kingdom47 contributionsA haven of peace and quietThis is an old Portuguese property carefully restored by the current owners. We went there independently but fortunately called ahead a few days before as I think reservation is essential We were welcomed at the door by the owner and given a short 20 minute tour of the house in which the owners still live. This includes a history of the house and how they had gone about the restoration. We were then sat down at a table on a covered terrace and served a delicious meal. 5 courses in total I think and including drinks this came out at about £20 per person. There were about 12 other diners and the 4 of us. We certainly thoroughly enjoyed our time there and strongly recommend a visit. There is no choice of menu so you will need to advise about any allergies when booking. We were able to wander around the lovely and peaceful Gardens after lunch. This place is a true haven of peace and quiet.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten February 28, 2024

The so called palace is just about ok. Wouldn't say its bad but certainly not eye popping that some reviews make it out to be. The food was definitely good and the highlight of the visit. Home made and very unique. Much different from the usual north Indian, South Indian and even Goan food you get in all restaurants. Kudos to the chef. The food quantity is a lot.
The owner is polite but can show a bit more warmth and personal touch.
Two things that really ticked me off:
1. Given the food quantity, unless you are a hogger, it is not possible to finish the food but the owner refuses to let us take it away. I found that a bit mean spirited.
2. The owner is not transparent with the charges. He doesn't mind charging on drinks willy-nilly. How about telling us first that it is chargeable ?
Overall, it is good place to visit if you like fancy food and don't mind the price tag. Otherwise, you are better off spending time elsewhere in Goa

Called the owner of this house on 22nd December 2019 evening to check for confirmation of 3 persons anytime between 26th December to 30th December. The host Reuben answered and FIRST checked if whether we were Goans and which part of Goa we were from. Said he would get back to us, but sadly did not get back to us. Being Goans, who are living abroad for more than 35 years we were disappointed. Socorro

Poor behaviour of the key person. We had planned to see this place since some 3 months back. A day before the visit i tried calling the given number so many times to know if we need to pre-book for having lunch there. Phone was not being picked Quite a few times since he was busy, once it was picked and i was told he will call back since he is busy now. I had even left a message with my query. Neither any reply came nor any call. And on the planned date i called again to recheck, but got a massively rude response saying “we are full”. Wasn’t it their responsibility to realise that we did try connecting with them many times with the objective to book? We were not even guided properly by him. It was his fault for not responding to us on time and he blatantly refused to consider our interest in visiting them. Not being able to accommodate is one thing and talking rudely, which is so unlikely of Goa, is another thing. Goans are known to be nice and polite. Will never think of visiting this place again.

Every time I come to goa I look for that one meal to impress me. This time, while staying in South Goa, we tried the usual haunts. None of them impressed. But this place was outstanding ... Right from the hospitality by Rubin to the history of the property to the food, it didn't fail to impress. Every dish was unique. Simple and flavorful tastes that were the right quantity. the overall ambience of the place was also splendid with a beautiful and old step garden, with an old well, and some amazing flora around. If you are looking for a unique experience with tasty food, this should not be missed ... Don't expect 5 star decor or anything. It is a renovated home .. but do expect 5 star quality food and experience.

Well restored villa tour. Ruben, the owner accommodated us at the last moment. One of the best lunch in Goa, Mostly home prepared with quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. Loved the experience and look forward to another trip to South Goa …. May be just to have the lunch.

This beautiful old home is a homage to a bygone era of Goa. The hosts, Reuben and Celia are lovely and lunch was possibly the best food I have had in Goa. Home cooking with a Portuguese Goan feel. Lots of interesting artefacts and a splendid garden are worth the visit.

I have booked a lunch with friends there and what a beautiful time we had.
The site is exceptional. The house is amazing, restored by the actual owner.
The garden is lovely and we had lunch on the beautiful terrace surrounded by plants and flowers.
The food is absolutly delicious, homemade bread, vegetables from the garden, many different dishes cooked with passion and savoir faire.
The mocktails were very good and refreshing too (they are not included in the price of the meal).
Very warmth welcome from the owner with loads of explications about the place.very professionnal.
You can visit the entire house and make beautiful pictures.
Worth a visit if you are in Goa.

Our 2nd visit to this beautiful old mansion, with its gardens and own paddy field.
Came for the 5 course lunch, served on the terrace, excellent Indo-Portugese food with crab, red rice (home grown), fruit mocktail etc. Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Hi there.
We are really interested in visiting this property but there isn't a huge amount of information on the website.
Can anyone let me know on that days is it open and during what hours is the house tour on. We were hoping to have lunch there too-preferably after the tour-is it necessary to book this in advance?
Thanks!

Interested in visiting this place.
What is the approx cost per person??
Written April 20, 2017
If you want to take lunch you have to book in advance by a day or two at least. Else you can just visit the place and donate whatever you feel like. We had given 100 per head
