Check-In: We arrived at 4:20 and had a couple in front of us, We left check-in at 5:36, and we were relaxed in mind having a drink in the pool but not could be possible. The Room: We were surprised we the room because it had two beds and the beds were small for a full-size bed and bigger than a twin-size, The room was the real definition of a simple room, shampoo, condition, shower gel, body lotion, and blower, mini bar, coffee and tea station, the first day we have to big towel and a medium one, no hand towel, no floor towel, the next day the bathroom was better. When I said simple room, included the shocking news we didn't have room service although our reservation said "special attention" The Room was for sleep more than anything and we slept well. For the night to get to the room had poor illumination and for Us, it was a risk so we had to use a flashlight. The Pool: It's big and has a lot of space, particularly don't like an area near the bar which was deep for me, and I couldn't easily cross the pool if I had a drink in hand (my height 1.65 mt / 5.5 feet). For a big pool, it was uncomfortable to have just one bar, and when the hotel has a lot of guests this one bar results in very small. Recreation area: They had a Kid's place and splash area, It's what's perfect for families with kids because everyone could enjoy the pool and have a snack without leaving the area. The lobby it's nice but results small when the hotel has a lot of guest, just like we experienced, The bar is very small and don't have a place the recreate, if you don't have a seat your options are pour to go, not sport bar, no coffee shop, no kids place for the night. Just lobby, theater, and Casino. The snack bar just open from 11 am to 5 pm. The pool bar open from 10 am to 6 pm Recommendations: Get early to the check-in before the hour indicated. Before going to your room, get direct to make a reservation to a la carte restaurant. For us, it was just a poor experience.

First I will say this the grounds are absolutely beautiful, peacocks every where, groundskeeper were out everyday pruning trees and tending to the landscaping. In addition they were very eager to climb the tallest tree for coconuts. I am a hospitality professional so this review will be from that perspective. When I made my reservation through the hotel I was told I would have round trip transportation or transfer as they call it. We were sent an email regarding the transfer and we responded in a timely manner and we were sent the transfer information the day of arrival and when we received it, the transfer was not for Roundtree it was only for a transfer from the hotel day of departure. This resulted in a more than 30-40 minute ordeal to work out our transfer. Thank God it was otherwise I would still be in Punta Cana. Next when we arrived check in was extremely extremely slow, the main reason is because they cunningly make you sign up for their rewards program even if you don't want to. Next the walk you around the hotel lobby to your "concierge" who is really a sales person who promises you a gift especially for you and they tell you not to tell anyone else about it and guess what everyone is told the same thing. The special gift is a rubber bracelet with Melia Caribe Tropical on it super bogus. Our room was not ready when we arrived so we ate lunch in the Marketplace buffet which was decent. On great however I have to give a huge thank you to Juan for my daily mangos sliced especially for me daily, Amiril, Francisco Ramirez, Juan Francisco, and others for the VI service I received for a hotel operations professional like myself if felt great to receive the same care and VIP treatment I give to others daily. If you want to have dinner any place other than the buffets which I suggest you should call at 9am to book reservations, I would advise scheduling as soon as you get there for each night of stay. The best restaurants are Capri and the French restaurant. You also have to request that your room be cleaned daily which is strange one day we didn't have our room serviced until after 3pm. You also may want to stick with booking excursions through the hotel the guys on the beach are shifty. Lastly I would like to thank Douglas that works for the excursion company as well for the great deal for horseback riding. Things to consider when staying at Melia Caribe bring comfortable shoes the walkways are made of large marble rocks uneven and painful for those of use who love cute sandals, bring a large hat sun is brutal but I love my tan 😆. If you have a hard time with squealing peacocks bring earplugs for sleeping, the peacocks start screaming at about daybreak so be prepared, they didn't bother me but for some this might be an issue. On the up and up the service was great overall and the people are very good looking. Overall I had a wonderful time and am considering going back now that I am aware of what to expect.

My husband and I recently stayed at Melia Caribe Tropical and the Lobby Bar was our absolute favorite place to hang out after dinner! The bartenders, Raydesther Soto, Hector Paulino, Julio Báez, Ubaldo, Heriberto, and Javiel Jimenez were so much fun! Ask for their "especial" when ordering, each bartender has their own and all were equally delicious! I highly recommend stopping for a couple drinks! You'll be glad you did!

Food could be better; alcohol could be better and the staff service could be better. Rooms cleaner and no bugs. We had 3 rooms booked they did place us all in the same villa however my daughters room her bed was dirty and had a big hair ball under the pillows. We were in the Level asked our butler to make dinner reservations for the week. 2 of the nights were were taken to closed restaurants. No night entertainment. Pool bars all closed in the pool area you had to get out of the pool to get a drinks. Drinks were not good and we could only get top liquor at one bar. No one spoke English. Resort was very big I had my parents with me who could not walk allot, the last day we asked for service to check out with our luggage no one came we ended up walking and pulling our luggage. This was are 2nd time here and will be our last. Will never recommend Melia.

I would not recommend this resort. It is well maintained and clean. The beach is great. But, my experience was horrible. It took us 1 1/2 hours to check in - and in that time frame they changed our room three times. We were not in the same building as the rest of our travelers; the hair dryer in our room kept falling off the wall, the TV did not work, the sheet were worn and the staff was rude. The food was ok; the food at the Steak and Lobster venue was excellent and well priced ($40.00 per person - you got your choice of steak or lobster). The wedding planner for my son's wedding was fabulous - she did an excellent job. When checking in - you are assigned a representative who will schedule you to meet with a sales representative to purchase membership in the resort and they will hunt you down until you meet with a sales representative. Very disappointing!

Hotel beautiful we upgraded to VIP. Meant nothing loud rowdy group also VIP. Complaint got no where. Then they turned the huge beautiful pool over to rowdy group for a private party out side my room . Was like being on "spring break" at huge price tag. Hotel allows terrible behavior Beware. We are accustom to better resorts.

These three bartenders near the MarketPlace restaurant were so incredibly friendly! We visited Punta Cana for a week long trip and these three made us feel very welcome! They were very entertaining and had outstanding personalities! Definitely made our trip worth while! All good things and smiles! Cannot wait to return

After one week at the melia I finally know my way around here but unfortunately it's time to go home. The place is much to large which, as a solo traveler, makes it difficult to interact with other guests. However if you are a couple I can't imagine that you would be disappointed with any of it here. My room was definitely geared for romance. A huge Jacuzzi for two a few feet from the king size bed surrounded by mirrors. Outside in the patio yard a comfy canopy bed nestled amongst the palms and very quiet in the adults only section.
There are many areas you can eat from the buffets or you can make reservations for some seven restaurants which quite frankly didn't impress me in service or cuisine.
I truly believe that the melia would be more successful if they did two things. One, figure a way to coordinate more well advertised events where the guests would congregate in one area and two figure a way the guests could figure out these massive grounds in one or two days instead of a whole week.

I don't know where to begin but I and a friend vacationed at the Melia from 9-18-13 to 9-23-13. Every night the Lobby bar had something different to offer. I enjoyed the various shoes in the theater only to get up and walk right into a live music party in the bar area. The drinks were always served just right. Since being back in America I have returned many drinks to the bar for being too strong or watered down. The bartenders at the lobby bar need to come over here and give some lessons. The mamajuana did put me to sleep like a newborn baby our first night drinking it, but we got use to it and would take shots if it before indulging in the delicious drinks of the day they offered. We even made some new friends as well as professional network connects.
If your looking for some great entertainment and have no desire of leaving the resort's premises then get "dolled up" grab some comfy dancing shoes and head to the lobby bar.
