High atop 2,753-foot Mount magazine, the state's tallest mountain, this scenic Arkansas state park was developed in the Mount Magazine Ranger District of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest through a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. Sweeping vistas of broad river valleys, deep canyons, and distant mountains welcome outdoor enthusiasts to Arkansas's high point. This is a place to enjoy sightseeing, exploring the mountain and nature study. The park is a destination for outdoor sports and extreme adventure enthusiasts that offers rock climbing, rappelling, hang-gliding, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, and ATV adventure. An ATV guide service is available. The park also offers overlooks, hiking trails, a picnic area with restrooms, pavilion, and a visitor center with an exhibit gallery and gift shop. The park offers 18 campsites (two Class AAA and 16 Class AA with tent only options). The Lodge features 60 guest rooms, a restaurant, conference center, business center, indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center and game room. Thirteen fully equipped cabins share the same bluff and seeping views of the valley as the lodge.

We recently spent three days and two nights at the state park. We hiked, swam, ate, and relaxed. The facilities are excellent for outdoor activities, but could also be great for meetings and groups. The trails are well-marked, but the descriptions seemed a little odd...More

There are so many pull offs to stop an take in the view. We didn't stop and hike, but we did drive the circle around the lodge.

This place is a hidden jewel. The view is spectacular. Try the lodge restaurant, very good! There is a gift shop in there also and information on the area. Very interesting.

We tent camped here and hiked the summit trail. Not much to see, but we were able to see some fantastic views while driving to the campsite. Wish we had more time to spend on other trails. Would definitely visit again.

Hiking the marked trails is a great way to work up an appetite for Sky Crest Restaurant at The Lodge at top of Mount Magazine.

Good visitor center with a window to see the birds on the feeders. Nice staff. Good places to have a picnic and the views of the lake are really nice. Do not stay on the lodge unless you don't have a problem with a noisy...More

We plan to visit in July and tent camp. We plan to stay 3 nights, Friday-Monday but only see Friday as an available date. Do you see many no-shows?

The roads to Mount Magazine are nice paved roads, however, they are curvy and get steep close to the top. Coming in from the North side is a little less curvy.

How difficult is the road going up to the clamp ground. We have a fifth wheel. (We can't remember if it is steep)

The roads to the Park are good paved roads, they do get curvy and steep close to the top. However, fifth wheels and other RV’s do not usually have any problems.
