I had no idea this battlefield was here. I was simply in the area and saw the historic sign and just followed them to the site. I went in and spoke with the desk clerk who was so amazing. Then I read all the history and watched the film. Wow. What any of these troops went through is mystifying. I... More

Visited this spot for the first time in January. Discovered it through a a geocaching multi that took us through the park, visiting various spots, learning and collecting historical information. Pleasant place to walk, learn history, geocache, and even play Pokemon Go. Would return and would recommend.

Having not been in the South much it was very interesting to walk these trails. The interpretive center had some interesting exhibits and historical accounts.

Labor Day Weekend Event and Pokémon Go stops. Carnival food, Craft Fair, Square Dance Competition. This is a big event in Prairie Grove, so big that the kids are out of school the next day. The historical buildings have interpreters and re-enactors during this weekend event. Put it on your calendar.

The Prairie Grove State Park is dedicated to the little know Battle of Prairie Grove which was fought on December 7, 1862 during the War of Northern Aggression. The park occupies what would be the center of the Confederate position. Outnumbered, the Confederates held the position all day. The park features a visitors center and driving tour which highlights the... More

Prairie Grove, AR has great antique shopping downtown but this sleepy little town comes alive every Labor Day weekend on the beautiful grounds of the historic Battlefield State Park with The Clothesline Fair. There are arts & crafts & food vendors and the largest square dancing competition in the nation. Children from the ages of 3 through 6th grade dance... More

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park has several historic buildings, such a a church, a schoolhouse, and a cabin. A one mile trail is also located there, as well as a museum. The annual Clothesline Fair is held here every year on Labor Day weekend, and a battlefield reenactment is open to the public on odd numbered years in December.

Totally free and worth it - Civil War battlefield. Hadn't heard of this one before, passing thru we saw the signs and decided to check it out. We ended up spending a couple of unplanned hours here. Check out the museum first and watch the video about the battle. After that you can do a 1 mile walking tour, or... More
