old crappy houses are built inside the walls of this amazing place. its in very bad shape but it beauty is trying to come out. i hope the new govermnet will take better care of it.

The amphitheatre itself is quite impressive, but it's sad to see that people actually constructed houses INSIDE of the amphtitheater... no rules during those days of construction now means the site is not fully intact anymore

it looks very weathered but we heard that when the area was colonized by the Osmans, the whole placed was covered up and covered by buildings. now thy uncovered the amphitheater but there are buildings all around... still it was nice to visit

One of MUST when visiting albanian Durres. Not in the best preserved conditions, but nice to visit. Still a lot of excavations to do.

Roman arches - piles of rocks - modern housing sits atop. The Durres Amphitheatre is well worth checking out.

The amphitheater is right behind the main street leading to the sea. Nearby are the remains of the medieval city wall. It is worth a quick walk around.

The amphitheatre is located in the city center, next to the mosque. At first is difficult to find it as there are no signs or info about which way to go. The entrance fee is about 3 euro (400 Lek). Not so many people here,...More
