I went for a day trip here about 10 years ago. This time I did an overnight stay so we had 2 days in Petra. So worth it. The first day we had time for a little exploration after The Treasury. The second day we...More

Almost everyone has seen pictures of Petra, but nothing will prepare you for the moment you discover it in person. It's just magical and the memories will remain with you for the rest of your life. I screamed with excitement when we first reached the...More

There is much written about Petra so I'll keep it short: highly recommended, do it yourself (not with a guided tour, unless you really have a lot of time. One major Pro-Tipp: at the ticket counter you get maps of the site. Take the one...More

A fantastic historical experience. Plan several hours and bring plenty of water. Camel ride was a lot of fun too. Fair warning, a lot of Bedoins hawking cheap goods. Practice saying "la shukran", it's Arabic for "no thanks", That being said plan at least an...More

We organised a private guide and started off at 7am. It was the best decision we made. The sun was not yet hot, our photos were incredible because there weren't any people around and we were able go by camel ride to explore the Petra...More

We stayed overnight at near by campsite, so, we visited Petra twice. Most of people come for a day trip, returning after seeing Treasury where Indiana Jones was filmed, but you must go farther to see the monetary! It is an amazing view!

Perhaps going during the hottest part of the year is not smart but even still it was worth it. Bring plenty of sunscreen and water and stay hydrated. Each major place (momentary, place of high sacrifice and the tombs plus an extra hike to the...More

Viewing Petra by night is an incredibly moving and surreal experience. Do not worry about being first to walk through the canyon to see the Treasury. Before the site is lit up, there is a ceremony run by locals who still live in the area....More

There is a lot of walking (miles) over very uneven walkways including dried river beds with stones, and an old chariot roadway with very uneven stones. I wouldn't take a two year old unless you want to carry him most of the... More
