I did the 4 day Sirimon - Chogoria route with gotomountkenya.com and can't recommend this company highly enough. I did this trip by myself and gotomountkenya specialise in private tours so I ended up doing the 4 day hike with the most competent crew. Josephat was my amazing guide who was a lovely, knowledgeable and friendly guy and we had... More

Did the 4 day trip up Sirimon and down via Chogoria route. Our guides were great (Josephat and Sammy). They kept us going at a great pace and were very knowledgeable about everything we asked. The team of porters and cooks always made sure we had everything we needed. You really finish the hike in 3 days and the last... More

We used Equitorial Star Adventures and Safaris for our trek and they were fantastic. Between the two of us we had 3 porters, 1 chef and 1 guide. They were extremely friendly and helpful and our guide Benson was fantastic. He knew a great deal about the local area and wildlife and nature and was the perfect companion on our... More

We climbed Mount Kenya last January - fantastic scenery & a great experience. A few big lodges will do the full package for you, at a price, but it really isn't that difficult (and a lot better value) to organise it yourself - we used the Mount Kenya Guides & Porters Safari Club (they have a fb page) who were... Great hike, very interesting and fun. We were 2 people and we found a great guide named Paul. Paul took care of everything we needed throughout the hike. I highly recommend both the hike and the guide Paul. No need to worry about food or anything, you just come. Paul even gave us some equipment which we didn't have.

I recently returned from 7 weeks in east Africa. Part of my amazing adventure included a 5-day trek up Mount Kenya via the scenic Chogoria route. The glacial scenery was stunning and the alpine flora unique. Our group from Australia used MK Snow Tours and Travel. The trip was professionally organised by Mark from start to finish. He and the... Within the proximity of the the Equator, you can traverse the different vegetation zones and reach the glaciated mountain peaks. World class rock climbing to Batian(5,199m) and Nelion(5,188m). Point lenana(4,985m) is the the trekkers paradise with the highest Via Feratta in the world.

Went up to point Lenana via Sirimon and down via Chogoria route in 3 days. Would definitely recommend doing both routes, as each have their own unique qualities and views. An extra day would help to ensure that you don't feel rushed and still take everything in after the summit. Paul, the guide from Polemark tours, was a legend in... More
