Visited the monastery in the afternoon. Small, clean, serene. Learnt about their history from the many writings / hoardings put up. Learnt about the Patron deity in Tibet and the missing lama. Pleasantly surprised to note the delicious goodies offered to the deities - danish cookies, juice, chocolates.

Namgyal Monastery Dharamshala is the home of the Dalai Lama, and also the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet. The Dalai Lama Temple Complex is a beautiful and peaceful place located in Upper Dharamshala, just a short walk away from my hotel . Decorated with the colourful prayer flags, it’s perfect for long serene walks, or early morning meditation with chanting... More

Being my first visit to a Buddhist Monastery, it was indeed an eye opener. The open classroom was very interesting wherein the lamas are having a question n answer session. The first floor is the temple complex where Buddha Sakyamuni's principal image is placed. The whole temple is ornated with beautiful Thangkas. The prayer wheels around the temple complete the... Monastery is very clean and a serene place. The approach road is very congested. Parking is an issue. Ubiquitous MAGGI Points are there. Nice place to know the history of Tibetan struggle and interact with Lamas . Better to walk to Monastery from parking place.

This is one place you cant miss. Its one place that holds a very special place in my heart. You can see monks carrying out prayers. This is the most peaceful & soothing place you can find here. It truly relaxes your body & soul. Its quite but equally powerful.

This place a must visit for me. It is the most important place here. One can see the monks carryung out prayers, undertaking teachings and carrying out their daily chores. This place has significance due to his Holi Highness Dalai Lama.

One of the most important sites in the Mcleodganj. Visit this place if you want to see monks chanting their prayers and immerse yourself in rich Tibetan heritage.
