The statue of Ugra Narasimha is the largest statue in Hampi. The Narasimha ( form of Lord Vishnu) is sitting on the coil of a giant seven-headed snake called Sesha Nag. The heads of the snake acts as the hood above his head. At one point of time there was a temple, now only the statue is remaining.  The original... More

The lost city of Vijayanagar - While Ugra Narasimha stands out apart in the entire Hampi attractions list along with the chariot, the entire place gives you a feel of the once prosperous kingdom. Another things I loved was the arcade that surrounds the temple - my first thought was - Move over stonehenges of UK, even our ruins are... More

One of the quirkier places to visit in temple, this statue is a candidate for the happiest in Hampi! Right next door to it is a monolithic linga that is also worth seeing.

Greatly built statue which exults an aura of ferociousness even though it is vandalized. There is a huge monolithic linga right it, which is also worth visiting

There's a huge shivalinga also here. Made of one big stone. It's huge as is the narasimha. The Laxmi statue was destroyed so you can see only one arm of hers. Otherwise she was seated in the lap of narasimha. Must stop here. You won't get to see it anywhere else

This is the largest statue in Hampi. Narasimha is sitting on the coil of a giant seven-headed snake called Sesha. The heads of the snake acts as the hood above his head. The god sits in a cross-legged Yoga position with a belt supporting the knees. Sometimes this is referred as Ugra Narasimha (i.e. Narasimha in its terrifying form). The... More

This is a staue of Urganarashima, which means Narashima of the terrifying countenance. It lives up to its name. A very accomplished piece of sculpture worth a short visit. It is right near the big Shiva lingam. You might have to wait a few minutes if you want a picture in front of the staure, as it is very popular... More
