The place was established as centre of excellence for performing arts but poor management has ensured that the place has become hot spot for romantic couples. The programs are not advertised in advance and since most of shows are free, you will not be able to find a seat unless you arrive at least three hours in advance. The small canteen on the premises is terrible. The quality of exhibitions has also deteriorated over time. Avoid

Very nice architecture and exposition, worth spending an hour. However after a while one may find this boring. Rock formation is also breathtaking. We were told (by thhe guide) that one school of thought says this area was actually an Ocean millions of years ago, although this view is dispute. We hadd seen very similar rock formations near Thailand .

Inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi
on 13th February 1982, Bharat Bhavan a multi-art center set up to create an intimate connection between the visual, verbal and performing arts. Charles Correa, the architect
who built this magnificent structure, found the possibility of a series of terraced gardens
cascading down to the Upper Lake. The visitors enter at the highest level and walk down
a pedestrian spine, flanked by a pattern of courtyards to reach the various parts of the
complex. The auditorium is always lively with various cultural programmes and painting
exhibitions that take place all year around. One can quench their thirst of arts here, and
will definitely leave satisfied, or maybe hungry for more

Bharat bhavan has its own uniqueness ... it is has a small art gallery inside the premises and offers a promising and rare collection . The star attraction is to catch up a theater performance in its amphitheater which over looks the lake .. or watch a performance in its inside theater "antarang"

It is a great centre to attend concerts , plays , exhibitions. One is surprised at the cultural richness that this city has to offer. I have seen some great personalities here such as Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Amjad Ali Khan etc. The latest in dec was a mono play by Shankar sen on Vivekanand . Well conceptualised, its a place i always check out in Bhopal and culturally oriented people should also look for what is on here during their visit, they may come across a gem
