Sanchi stupa has immense value and history in Buddhism. The monument was clean and quiet. Though there is lot of information given on the information boards at this place, I was disappointed noticing why stupa was built and what purpose it serves. Since I am not Buddhist, I do not have this knowledge and would like to know more about... More

Sanchi(सांची) the Buddhist complex, famous for its Great Stupa, is located on a hilltop at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is 46 km north-east of Bhopal, capital of Madhya Pradesh. This is must visit place if you are interested in historical places. You will find the great and real art of architect.

A world heritage site and plenty of info available on websites on the monument. It's a well maintained monument by ASI. It is a pilgrimage for followers of Buddhism and frequented by thousands of visitors every weeks. However the site has meagre facilities such as a toilet which is clean but no soap or tissues. Cafe is not international standard... More

Around 50 kms from Bhopal airport. It is an ancient Buddhist site. There is a main stupa and around ten- fifteen sites in the same complex. It is desirable to take a guide. They charge upto Rs 500/-. But before fixing up make it clear that he should accompany you to all sites and explain there.

Indeed People keep visiting Bhopal, Capital of MP, either on business or pleasure trips. But, definitely the add-on is if Sanchi Stupa is also on the itinerary. A place where you can recapitulate your Historical Knowledge and visualise How the Great Emperor turned a PEACE SYMBOL commensurating with the idols of Lord Buddha. Meticulously supported Logistics by MP Tourism enrich... More
