This is a mega city complex, comprising of several forts, palaces, pavillions and important gates. On one end, there is Rani Roopmati Pavillion and Jahangirpur Darwaza is on one side of the main road, about 5.5 kms off the road. The number of these monuments are so many that one needs atleast 2 days to cover all these!

Interesting old town with a few great monuments, especially the mosque (being repaired now) and Hoshang's Tomb, but the really special place os outside of town, near the Malwa Retreat. It's the ancient caravansary, quite huge, with the remains of a central tank. The stone work is beautiful and at twilight the place is so evocative of the ancient days... More

To travel back in time and be amazed at what was conceived years back, in the formation of a city is an experience. The entire Mandu complex needs time to understand the reason and logic of planning such a city within a city.

In and around Mandu is a great area to see and (perhaps) discover centuries old monuments. The monuments are architecturally and aesthetically very different from the one's we are used to seeing in Rajasthan. It is one of the oldest surviving palaces in India, yet, very forward in terms of design and feel. Wonderful place. Quite sexy/ very romantic -... More

You need at least a day to cover majority of the famous monuments in Mandu. A guide is a must but beware of fake ones. Rani roopmati palace complex, jahaz Mahal complex and nearby structures like Jami masjid, hoshand Shah tomb are the main monuments.
