Worth a visit if only for the view but perhaps drive or cycle

Great views but easier to cycle to or drive to than walk to. There is a long walk along a rustic, ramblers path that is quite uneven. If you're looking for an authentic Greek walk this will satisfy that need. Takes about half a morning to walk from Kardamyli to Agia Sophia church, cycling is much more fun as it... More

Slogged up in blistering heat only to find it locked! Beware the temperature is much higher once away from the sea.

The church is nothing to speak of but the hike up and back is fun, especially after you have eaten in the great locally. There are alternate ways to go, make sure you follow some path or hope you run into others who know their way. The shortest most direct path is from Old Kardamyli,. you will not get lost... More

Many reviews already and mine will just confirm what has already been said. If you stay around Kardamili and want to do a short hike of 1 h (back and forth), just go for that one. Nice nature, flowers, sceneries, ... an enjoyable hike 'affordable' for kids (went there with two 8 y.o. and two 13 y.o. kids)

After visiting the old Kardamyli complex you should walk up the nice kalderimi (old traditional stone path) to the small church of Agia Sophia. What you will enjoy is the very beautiful views, almost all the way, of Kardamyli. Taking your camera is a must. It is a very easy ascend even for small children (from 5 years old). It... More

It's quite a walk up the hill, but the views are gorgeous and the whole route takes you through olive groves, ancient graves and and natural woodland. Even better when you extend the walk to go down through the Vyros Gorge on the river bed. We did it on an incredibly rainy day and got absolutely soaked, but it was... More

We did this on a boiling hot and humid day, not realising how stony, uneven and lacking shade it would be (our fault) wearing not exactly the right footwear (wear hiking shoes/good trainers) and myself being a bit decrepit. I was proud that we nearly got to the top, and sad to miss the church. However the views are exhilarating,... More

Very pleasant walk (about 40 minutes) up an ancient stone path through olive, fig and cypress trees (do start early on hot summer days), and stupendous views over the Mani coastline and the sea when you reach the church - which is locked, but the setting is the main point so never mind!
